We have tragic news to announce.

Legendary goaltender Martin Brodeur has suffered a tragic loss, as his older brother Claude has passed away. He was 58 years old. The circumstances of his death are still unknown.

Claude has had a huge impact on Marty's career, as we can read on USA Today:

"He should probably thank older brother Claude for an in-your-face lecture he gave his younger brother three decades ago. At 12, Marty was angered that he had been benched for three games because he missed a game after the death of his grandmother. He told the family he was quitting hockey to concentrate on skiing.

Claude set him straight, thereby changing Marty's life forever."

Claude Brodeur was also a hockey player: he suited in 61 games over the course of two seasons with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. However, he decided to play baseball instead, and signed a contract with the Montreal Expos in 1980. He suffered a severe injury that ended his career prematurely.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Brodeur family and their friends.
