Breaking: Turris gave the Sens the shaft!
KeyStone Press

Matt Duchene to the Ottawa SenatorsKyle Turris to the Nashville Predators. A bunch of picks and prospects to the Colorado Avalanche. We all know the story by now.

But what we didn't know, is how Turris essentially gave Pierre Dorion and the Sens the shaft during contract negotiations, which ultimately led to this deal coming to fruition.

The Sens were willing to offer the $6 million that Turris was seeking, but 7 or 8 years was never possible for management. Turris' camp never came down to 6 years, which would've seemingly been an agreeable deal for Ottawa.

Yet - within minutes, Turris' agent negotiated a 6 year, $6 million deal with Nashville.

This trade woudn't have happened, at least not the way it did, had Turris accepted 6 years in Ottawa. His unwillingness to take that term there but grab it instantly in Nashville says something about how enticing it was to play in Tennessee.

Turris has 9 points in 11 games so far this season, and will join Ryan Johanesen and Nick Bonino to form a formidable trio of centermen in Nashville.
