Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman has dropped some interesting morselsl.

According to comments he made recently the New York Rangers are currently looking at a pair of significant moves, one to acquire a defenseman and another to trade one away.

First the big one, according to Friedman the Rangers are in on the Jacob Trouba trade demands, with Friedman stating that the Rangers most definitely want him but that the price to make the move is very high. There's no doubt that the Jets are looking for a full return on their investment or they won't even consider moving Trouba, however what they've asked the Rangers to give up remains a mystery.

The second move is somwhat surprising, with the Rangers currently searching for help on the blue line they are reportedly looking to ship one of their young defensemen out of town. Firedman reports that they are currently shopping Dylan McIlrath with the hopes of moving him prior to being forced to place him on waivers.

More to come on both these deals.

Update: Scratch that second trade rumor, according to Friedman the Rangers have in fact placed Dylan McIlrath on waivers, and it seems unlikely that the teams involved in those trade talks will let him pass them by.
