We have a very interesting scouting report to bring you this evening.

According to NHL reporter Joe Yerdon both Edmonton Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli and Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving have both been spotted scouting the match up between the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.

Their presence is particularly interesting because both the Blue Jackets and the Sabres have been connected to big time trade rumors in the past several weeks. In the case of Buffalo there has been rampant speculation regarding whether or not star forward Evander Kane will eventually be traded, while Columbus on the other hand has been aggressively looking for a center.

The Flames are believed to be looking for another winger, although a player of Kane's stature likely far exceeds what they are searching for. Ottawa Senators reporter has previously reported that the Flames are looking for a bottom six winger.

Chiarelli on the other hand is believed to be looking for both goaltending and defense, although whether or not he is looking at the Sabres or the Jackets as potential solutions is unclear.

That being said if either of these teams have a chance to acquire a player the quality of Evander Kane you would have to imagine they at least consider it if the deal makes sense.
