There is a very interesting development in the National Hockey League.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie is reporting that NHL's college signing season may be about to kick off with a bang as both forward Zachary Aston-Reese as well as defenseman Gareth Bayreuther are with 24 to 48 hours away from signing with an NHL team.

Aston-Reese was a beast for Northeastern University's Huskies, he recorded 31 goals and 32 assists for 63 points in 38 games this season, needless to say he is drawing interest from several teams. McKenzie specifically notes that the Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings are among the teams with interest.

Bayreuther on the other hand is a St. Lawrence University product and he put up an impressive 29 points in 30 games with 8 goals and 21 assists this season. According to McKenzie the Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche are among the teams with interest.
