Earlier today we touched on the rumors that the Boston Bruins are currently looking to make a trade, and now in just a few short hours we have received confirmation of those rumors from several sources.

First TSN insider Bob McKenzie discussed the possibility of the Bruins making a trade deal earlier today, and according to him the injuries on the Bruins roster are likely to force general manager Don Sweeney to do something.

“The Bruins, they’ve been decimated with injuries. Krejci is out. Marchand is out. Backes is out," said McKenzie as per Fanrag's Chris Nichols. "They missed Bergeron for the first five games of the season. Both Rask and Khudobin have been injured, although they’re both back playing now. So I think Don Sweeney wants to make a trade. He wants to upgrade his forward group. He wants to upgrade his defense."

Add to that the fact that Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy claims that multiple sources have informed him that the Bruins now have interest in Anaheim Ducks defenseman Sami Vatanen. There's no doubt that the addition of a player like Vatanen would be a huge boost to the blue line in Boston, but he would likely cost the Bruins a great deal.

In fact Murphy believes that if veteran forward David Krejci were not currently injured, he would be a player the Bruins would consider dangling in order to pry the 26-year-old right handed shooting defenseman from the Ducks.

More to come on this one as things appear to be heating up.
