Breaking: Unpopular GM receives a contract extension and fans are NOT happy

According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks have signed general manager Jim Benning to a contract extension. Benning was heading into the final year of his contract with the team.

Benning has been the team’s GM since taking over for former GM Mike Gillis in 2014. The team has missed out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs the past four years and is currently up tight against the NHL’s salary cap, despite being one of the worst performing teams over the past half decade.

Suffice it to say, Canucks fans are NOT happy.
