After reporting yesterday that Toronto Maple Leafs’ promising young forward Nikita Soshnikov was missing from practice, we’ve learned that there are updates regarding the Russian.

Kristen Shilton reports that he began skating today ahead of the team's practice, which indicates that he is inching closer towards a return to game action. It also signifies that his injury scare was less serious than initially anticipated, and the Maple Leafs will surely welcome the 23-year-old back with open arms.

Through four games, the right-winger has posted one goal and two points, with his first goal of the 2016-2017 regular season schedule coming against the Vancouver Canucks on November 5th.

More updates to follow soon, including when he is expected to return to head coach Mike Babcock’s lineup.
