The Las Vegas Golden Knights may not wait until Saturday night to announce their selection from the Minnesota Wild roster, it sounds like they are trying to get that deal done early.

Minnesota Wild insider Mike Russo of the Star Tribune is now reporting that the Las Vegas Golden Knights are making use of their exclusive window to negotiate with free agents, and are currently working on a deal to sign restricted free agent center Erik Haula.

While normally a team would be forced to submit an offer sheet to steal a restricted free agent from a rival, due to the rules of the expansion draft Vegas could sign Haula, assuming he agrees to a deal with Vegas, without incurring any penalty and without the Wild having a chance to match the offer.

However, if the Golden Knights do complete this transaction, this would count as the player selected from the Wild roster, a move that would mean the Golden Knights could not select a second player who was left exposed.
