Breaking: Vegas makes questionable call and gives Pacioretty the boot!

The Vegas Golden Knights are back on the right path after a strenuous start to the campaign, turning their season around in less than a month. They are 9-2-0 in 11 games since Nov. 21 after starting the season 9-12-1.

One player who is also back on the track is Max Pacioretty, who was acquired in a major from the Montreal Canadiens ahead of the training camp. Or so we thought...

According to many team insiders present at the morning skate on Friday ahead of tonight's contest against the New Jersey Devils, it is believed that Pacioretty will be a healthy scratch for the game. When asked about his decision to sit out Pacioretty, head coach Gerard Gallant told team writer Dave Schoen that someone needs to watch the game from the stands and it could be no. 67 despite the fact that nothing is wrong with him.

"There's nothing wrong with Max (Pacioretty)."

"We've got to scratch somebody tonight and we'll decide tonight. ... We'll know before warmups."

It seems like a questionable move seeing that Pacioretty has been producing -- 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in his past 12 games.

"In years past I didn't have that honesty to allow myself to get through it. I would kind of beat myself up, but they really are supportive here," Pacioretty said to NHL.com just yesterday. "I know I'm here for a reason and we knew my game was trending in the right direction. It wasn't going to be perfect at first."

It sure seems like it isn't perfect now either...

UPDATE: The team tweeted out tonight's lineup changes and added that Pacioretty will be out, however, they mentioned that it is due to a minor injury.  The team added that Paul Stastny is in and will play alongside Tuch and Lindberg.
