Breaking: Veteran center placed on waivers to have his contract terminated
KeyStone Press

It's always a tough decision by management to terminate the contract of a veteran player - but hockey is a business and choices must be made.

It appears that choice has been made for Los Angeles Kings veteran center Brooks Laich.

Laich came along to Los Angeles on a PTO and signed a deal with the team at the beginning of the season - all looked well for the 34-year-old veteran forward.

After playing 12 games for the team and getting a single assist - his time has come to an end. The Kings' depth along with the long-awaited return of Marian Gaborik has made his place in the lineup expendable. Furthermore, the acquisition of Torrey Mitchell from the Montreal Canadiens further spelled his end with the team.

His career is likely over.
