A huge raise.

He was arguably the most underpaid player in the entire National Hockey League, but those days are over.

According to a breaking news report from NHL insider Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, 27-year-old center Jonathan Marchessault has signed a massive  contract worth $30 million over the next 6 NHL seasons.

Marchessault is having another huge season with 15 goals and and 22 assists for 37 points in just 35 games, which makes the fact that the Florida Panthers chose not to protect him one of the worst moves in recent memory.

He is currently earning just $750,000 per season, so his new average annual value of $5 million per season will be a massive and well deserved raise for the hardworking forward.

A great move from the Golden Knights, and one that doesn't make the management in Florida look very good at all.
