Breaking: Veteran defenseman officially hits the waiver wire
Keystone Press Agency

It sure looks like Brandon Davidson's time with the Montreal Canadiens has come to an end.

The organization has announced via its official Twitter account that they are going to waive the 26-year-old defenseman at noon:

Davidson was acquired in the middle of the 2016-17 season from the Edmonton Oilers, in return for forward David Desharnais. Since then, he played 23 games with the Habs, in which he recorded three assists and 13 penalty minutes, as well as a +/- ration of -6.

Now that David Schlemko and Shea Weber are both healthy, Davidson clearly didn't have a spot anymore in the lineup. You can take a look at the team's defense pairings in today's morning skate:

Benn - Weber Alzner - Petry Mete - Schlemko Jerabek - Morrow

The Habs are going to face the Detroit Red Wings for the second time in three days tonight, this time at the Bell Center.
