This comes as a major surprise.

After signing veteran defenseman Matt Carle over the summer the Nashville Predators have made the decision to place Carle on unconditional waivers today. Carle was brought in to fill a depth role on the blue line but it appears that the Predators are not satisfied with the way he has performed for them.

Now a report from Adam Vingan of the Tennessean has indicated that the Predators are now looking to terminate his contract and put an end to the Matt Carle experiment in Nashville.

The former San Jose Sharks second round pick appeared in just six games for the Predators this season where he recorded a single assists and had a plus minus rating of -1 on the season. It's hard to imagine that at least one team won't take a chance on Carle when you consider how shaky some of the defensive line ups have been in the NHL this season.
