Breaking: Veteran defenseman placed on waivers
KeyStone Press

The Washington Capitals have placed defenseman Aaron Ness on waivers on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old defender was a healthy scratch for the Caps' last nine contests.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 184 pounds, the defenseman can compensate with speed and offense.

Originally drafted by the New York Islanders with a second-round (40th overall) pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Ness has amassed one assist in eight games this season.

Many NHL teams, like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers and Edmonton Oilers, are seeking help on the defense and could look at the waiver wire for depth on the blue line. Ness could become an interesting option.
