Breaking: Veteran forward facing suspension for vicious crosscheck last night.

There wasn't much surprise after this announcement.

The National hockey League's Department of Player Safety has reached out to the Ottawa Senators and according to Senators insider Bruce Garrioch they have informed the team and forward Mike Hoffman, that Hoffman will have an over the phone hearing on Friday.

Hoffman of course was responsible for the vicious crosscheck delivered to the back of the head of San Jose Sharks star Logan Couture, a move that was likely retaliation for the attack on Ottawa Senators star defenseman Erik Karlsson.

Attacks with the stick and head shots are big points of concern of for player safety, and as you can see in the video below, this one qualifies for both.
