Breaking: Veteran goalie gets new $16+ million dollar deal.

The Carolina Hurricanes took a big risk when they traded for pending free agent Scott Darling, but that risk has paid off big time.

According to a breaking news report from Michael Smith, senior web producer for the Carolina Hurricanes organization, the team has come to terms on a new contract with Darling.

According to Smith, Darling has signed a four-year National Hockey League contract that will pay him a very respectable $16.6 million, a huge pay increase for the career backup goaltender.

The Hurricanes now have three veteran goaltenders, so don't be surprised if this leads to another move from the Canes.

More to come
