Breaking: Veteran goalie goes down after getting hit from behind.
NHL

You don't see plays like this happen all too often in the National Hockey League.

On Friday night Tampa Bay Lightning veteran goaltender Peter Budaj was injured when he had his legs taken out from under him in what appeared to be an accidental collision.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton was trying to get around the Lightning defender when he lost his balance and fell to the ice. The momentum of that fall drove him into the back of Budaj's legs causing the Lightning goalie to fall awkwardly.

It was obvious immediately that Budaj had injured one of his legs and as a result both his teammates and the Lightning trainers were forced to help him off the ice.
