According to a report from Los Angeles Kings insider John Hoven, the team has released veteran forward Brooks Laich from his professional tryout (PTO) contract.

The 34-year-old native of Wawota, Saskatchewan played only 27 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies putting up just a single goal and 8 assists. The season prior to that however, he split his time between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals. Scoring two goals and 12 assists in 81 games.

The veteran forward had no buyers in unrestricted free-agency this summer, but managed to earn himself a tryout with the Kings. Unfortunately for him, the Kings have decided to pass on him in favor of youth.

So, what’s next for Brooks Laich? AHL again? KHL? Retirement?
