Breaking: Veteran of 500+ NHL games makes tragic announcement
Keystone Press

The Vancouver Canucks have announced that injured forward Derek Dorsett will not return to the team’s roster.

The veteran forward of 515 NHL games is expected to officially retire due to the severe health risks associated with playing. Dorsett underwent an experimental neck surgery during the offseason that seemed to have solved his issues earlier in the season, but the injuries he has sustained now are more severe than before.

Dorsett also released a statement on the announcement. Better grab a tissue, Canucks fans:

The 30-year-old veteran scored 51 goals and 127 points in 515 NHL games split between the Canucks, the New York Rangers and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
