Breaking: Veteran player has blocked a trade to the Canadiens.

A veteran National Hockey League player is fine with playing in the East but not if it's with the Montreal Canadiens.

A report from Vancouver Canucks reporter Matthew Sekeres of TSN 1040 in Vancouver has revealed that Canucks veteran Jannik Hansen will not accept a trade that would send him to the Canadiens.

Hansen has the benefit of submitting an eight-team trade-approved list as part of his limited no-trade clause and therefore will be able to prevent the Canadiens from getting their hands on him as long as he so chooses.

It's unclear how close the Habs and Canucks were on a deal for Hansen prior to this announcement.
