BREAKING: Veterans Scratched, Injury Report

Ahead of the Detroit Red Wings' matchup against the Montreal Canadiens tonight at the Joe Louis Arena, head coach Jeff Blashill has updated reporters regarding the availability of certain veteran players. 


Niklas Kronwall will be a healthy scratch tonight, as Blashill intends on resting him and his knee. The Red Wings played last night, and thus a back-to-back entails that the veteran defenseman will be left out while Xavier Ouellet is inserted into the lineup. Who Ouellet will play is anybody's guess:




Moreover, with Tomas Jurco completing his conditioning stint with the Grand Rapids Griffins, it was believed that he would be ready to join his teammates at home against the Canadiens this weekend, but that is not the case. Jurco has reportedly suffered a setback as he is experiencing stiffness in his back, and Blashill did not reveal if Drew Miller would be inserted into the lineup:
