We have our first major trade on trade deadline day.
According to a report from TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger the Arizona Coyotes have dealt one of the top free agent forwards on the market, Mikkel Boedker, to the Colorado Avalanche. Boedker is a very talented offensive player and despite the fact he was rumored to be on the trading block, this must come as a disappointment to the Arizona fan base.
In exchange the Avalanche will give up forward Alex Tanguay, 20 year old prospect Conner Bleackley, and 19 year old defensive prospect Kyle Wood. While the loss of Boedker will certainly hurt, at least the Coyotes will get some long term projects that can hopefully turn into quality NHL players down the line.
The Coyotes were reportedly looking for two second round picks, perhaps they valued these prospects more than the draft picks.
