We have a monster trade in the National Hockey League.

According to TSN insider Bob McKenzie the Edmonton Oilers have sent former first overall pick in 2010 Taylor Hall to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for fourth overall pick in 2011 Adam Larsson.

This move serves two purposes for the Oilers, for one they clear nearly two million dollars off their cap hit with this move, and they add a huge piece to their blue line, their position of greatest need, albeit at the cost of one of their top offensive stars.

For the Devils the motivation is clear, they believe like many that Taylor Hall is destined to be an elite forward in the National Hockey League, and with their needs being on the offensive side of the puck Hall fits nicely into their organization. As a bonus Hall also comes with one extra more year of control than Larsson did, albeit at a significantly higher cap hit.

This was one of the days biggest rumors, and now all eyes will be on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Steven Stamkos after the explosive reports that surfaced today.
