We have a late night trade to announce.

ESPN insider Pierre LeBrun was the first to report that the Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks were finalizing a deal that would send veteran forward Jannik Hansen to the Sharks and it appears that deal is now complete.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie is reporting that the Sharks have given up their former 2014 first round draft pick Nikolay Goldobin in this deal as well as fourth draft selection with some conditions tagged on to it.

Goldobin, a 22-year-old forward, has put up 41 points in 46 games in the American Hockey League this season and now with this move as well as the trade of Alex Burrows it's clear the Canucks are starting to look towards they long-term future. Whether or not that results in more pieces being sold off prior to the deadline remains to be seen.
