We have a trade to announce in the National Hockey League.

The Los Angeles Kings have announced that they have acquired defenseman Rob Scuderi from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Christian Ehrhoff. From the Kings official announcement:

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired defenseman Rob Scuderi from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. To make room on the 23-man roster, defenseman Kevin Gravel has been assigned to Ontario.

The Kings clearly weren't happy with the performance of Ehrhoff and the same appeared to be true of the Blackhawks and their relationship with Scuderi who never really fit in Chicago. The Kings who are familiar with Scuderi like felt having someone familiar with their system would make for a better fit than Ehrhoff.

TSN hockey insider Bob McKenzie had predicted this trade would be made official earlier in the day.

UPDATE: Bob McKenzie has reported that Chicago has retained 50% of Scuderi's salary, while L.A. has retained 15% of Ehrhoff's salary.
