Breaking: Wild and Stars have had talks about a blockbuster trade deal.

This would be a biggie.

There are huge rumors of a big-time trade deal brewing in the National Hockey League.

According to a report from Minnesota Wild insider Mike Russo of the Star Tribune, the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild have discussed a deal that would involve Dallas' third overall pick at the upcoming National Hockey League Entry Draft and one of Minnesota's  talented defensemen.

From Russo in the Star Tribune:

It’s believed Fletcher has talked to Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill about the No. 3 overall pick. Nill is seeking a defenseman, so if the Wild got involved in that type of trade, it could hurt in the short-term. Flahr, even though the Wild doesn’t have a first- or second-round pick, poo-pooed that type of trade becoming a reality.

While they are still just rumors at this time, given the quality of Russo's reporting we sincerely believe that these talks have in fact taken place. As for what players would be on the trade block for the Wild? Well given the upcoming expansion draft we believe that any of Matt Dumba, Jonas Brodin and Marco Scandella could all be on the market as they are at risk of losing one of those players to Las Vegas anyways.

More to come.
