** LATEST UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM **

It seems like sell off time has begun in Minnesota...

According to Minnesota Wild insider Michael Russo of The Athletic, forward Charlie Coyle has been told that he has been traded but not to where yet. The veteran forward has reportedly been told not to join his teammates on the plane and his suitcase has been removed from the aircraft so he can stay behind and head to his new team.

TSN's Bob McKenzie had just confirmed that Coyle is heading to Boston. McKenzie believes the Wild is getting Ryan Donato and a fifth-round pick in return for Coyle.

According to Russo, the move will be confirmed by the team later tonight.

Last week, head coach Bruce Boudreau guaranteed that his team would make the postseason. A day later, GM Paul Fenton made it clear that he had gotten the green light to make trades ahead of the deadline, even if it means that the Wild will fall out of playoff contention.

Minnesota could benefit from a hockey trade, and also the addition of starpower and young prospects. They have now been shut out in back-to-back games, but are still in a playoff spot with 60 points in the last Wild Card slot.

Coyle has tallied 10 goals and 18 assists while playing in 60 games this season. He has spent his entire six-year career in Minnesota, debuting with the club during the 2012-13 season after he was selected in the first round, 28th overall by the San Jose Sharks in 2010, but was moved in the Brent Burns blockbuster trade.

The 26-year-old forward carries a $3.2 million cap hit through next season on the five-year contract he signed with the Wild in 2014.

UPDATE: As previously mentioned by Bob McKenzie both teams waited until past 10h30PM to announce the official trade. It was as McKenzie had reported: Coyle for Donato and a (conditional) fifth round pick in 2019.

The pick becomes a fourth-round selection (NYR) should the Bruins advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
