According to a report from Western Hockey League (WHL) insider Greg Drinnan, former Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings head coach Willie Desjardins has returned to his roots and will coach the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers next season.

Check it out:

After a short and unsuccessful stint with the Canucks and Kings, Desjardins is headed back to Medicine Hat. Desjardins, of course, was head coach of the Tigers from 2002 until 2010 when he joined the Dallas Stars organization as an associate coach.

Under Desjardins the Tigers won two WHL championships and the no-nonsense coach helped get players like Kris Russell, Darren Helm, Tyler Ennis, Derek Dorsett, Clarke Macarthur and Cam Barker to the NHL.
