The Detroit Red Wings have announced that they've traded Scott Wilson to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 5th round pick.

Wilson, formerly of the Pittsburgh Penguins, had originally been packaged in a deal to land Riley Sheahan from the Red Wings. Neither player has played up to snuff on their new teams, with Ken Holland already fed up with Wilson and moving on from him after a month and a half.

After posting a respectable 8 goals and 18 assists last season, Wilson was pointless through 3 games in Pittsburgh, and remained pointless through 17 games in Detroit.

Let's hope his fortunes turn in Buffalo!

Wilson was the Penguins' 7th round pick in 2011.
