The Detroit Red Wings have announced that they’ll once again host their annual Development Camp, NHL Prospect Tournament and Training Camp in Traverse City, Michigan in September.

Joining the Wings for the annual tournament will be the best and brightest young prospects from the Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St Louis Blues. With such a huge collection of young talent, analysts expect the exhibition games to be crawling with pro scouts and talent evaluators.

According to the Red Wings:

The tournament will be divided into two four-team divisions, and teams will play each team in their division in a round-robin format before a crossover on the final day of the tournament. The first-place finishers in each division will meet for the Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

It’s unknown yet exactly how those divisions will break down, but hockey fans in Michigan are sure to be treated to some excellent hockey during September’s opening weekend. What better way to start the 2017-18 hockey season?
