The Detroit Red Wings season may be over but the bad news hasn't stopped.

On Tuesday Red Wings insider Ted Kuflan reported that one Red Wings forward was in for a very long summer following his surgery. According to Kuflan, general manager Ken Holland has informed him that Tomas Tatar will need anywhere from four to six months in order to fully recover from shoulder surgery, a timetable that could put him right up against the start of the regular season.

Tatar remains one of Detroit's core forwards, and even with their struggles this season he managed to record 25 goals and 21 assists for 46 points in 81 games with the team. Obviously an injury of this magnitude is both a concern in the short-term as well as the long-term and it will be interesting to see if Tatar is 100% come the start of the 2017-2018 season.
