Wings suffer the lost of one of their former members

It's a tough year for the organization as The Detroit Red Wings are still suffering from the loss of owner Mike Ilitch at the age of 87. Ilitch bought the Red Wings in 1982 and turned the team into a perennial playoff contender and while there were some organizational decisions that fans in the city didn't always agree with, there was never any doubt that he was a beloved and well-respected member of the community. 

The Detroit Red Wings community are saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. John Finley, who worked as a team physician from 1957-2003.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and his wife, Genevieve, during this difficult time.
