Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara reached an impressive milestone tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs! Chara is playing in the 1,400th game of his NHL career! The 40-year-old defenseman has four goals and nine assists for a total of 13 points in 49 games played so far this season, with a defensive differential of +25.


Drafted 56th overall by the New York Islanders in 1996, Chara scored 192 goals and added 425 assists for a total of 617 points in 1,399 games played before tonight. He joined the Bruins as a free agent in 2006, after playing with the Islanders and the Ottawa Senators. He also registered 59 points in 147 playoff games, helping Boston to win the Stanley Cup in 2011. Chara won the Norris Award (best defenseman) for the 2008-2009 season.

The Bruins are currently second in the Atlantic division with a record of 30-11-8.
