Breakout Candidate: Andre Burakovsky

With so much criticism and uncertainty surrounding the Washington Capitals these days, it’s refreshing to take a step back and appreciate all that the team has going for it. Take 22 year-old Andre Burakovsky, for example. the newly signed winger crested 35 points for the second straight season in 2016-17 and looks poised to break out for 20+ goals and 50+ points in 2017-18. 

With Marcus Johansson now out of the picture, look for Burakovsky to take on an increased role with the Caps next season and build off the 12 goals he potted last season. For a quick recap, check out his highlights from the 2016-17 campaign:

Silky. Smooth. The big Swede has the skills to become an elite talent in the NHL and he’ll be given the chance in 2017-18. What’s a reasonable expectation for his production? 20 goals? 50 points? More if he gets top line duty over Oshie?
