Breakout defenseman is finally looking a lot better

It'll take more than a puck to the face to keep this guy down!

It's taken almost the entire summer, but Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski looking a lot better after a frightening play that saw him take a puck to the face.

Werenski was forced out of the playoffs early during the Blue Jackets first round playoff contest against the eventual Stanley Cup winning Pittsburgh Penguins.

And he's almost all better as of Friday:


The 20-year-old breakout blueliner had 11 goals last season and led all defenders in Columbus with 47 points in his rookie season.

Taking a shot like that to the kisser may be just another workplace hazard for hockey players, but there's no denying the Blue Jackets' 2015 1st-round draft pick tough enough for playoff hockey. He'll be an instrumental part of Columbus' plans to return to the post season in 2018.
