This had to be one of the biggest impacts of this series thus far.

On Sunday afternoon the San Jose Sharks and the St. Louis Blues faced off for Game 5 of the Western Conference Final and unfortunately for the fans in attendance in Southern California, they did not get a whole lot of things to cheer about. The Sharks have been thoroughly dominated by the Blues through the first two periods of play, giving up 3 goals to the Blues and finding no answer as of yet, but there have been some highlights for the Sharks in spite of all that.

Unquestionably the biggest play of the night for the Sharks has been the 2nd period hit delivered by Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon to St. Louis Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo. It would be an understatement to suggest that Dillon absolutely crushed Pietrangelo on this one, but I would also be lying if I said that Pietrangelo did not immediately bounce back up to his feet in spite of the massive impact. That being said it does seem that Pietrangelo got by far the worst of this one as he was favoring his leg as he left the ice. Pietrangelo was trying to shake out his leg on the ice and was then spotted stretching it out on the sidelines with the St. Louis Blues training staff, however he would remain in the game which is pretty respectable given how hard he got hit.

That being said though the hit from Dillon will be little consolation to a team that was really hoping for a big win in Game 5, and seem very far away from pulling it off at the moment.
