Brian Burke doesn't want anyone in the NHL to have fun!

The guy is not budging about this. How do you feel about the celebration?

The Carolina Hurricanes are having a lot more fun this season and it shows on the ice as their post-game win celebration on home ice has gone viral since the start of the regular calendar.

After standing near centre ice, Hurricanes players Skol clap and then rush the length of the ice and slam into the glass at the other end. Fans are loving it, clapping along with the players and cheering loudly to show their support.

While it sure gets the crowd going in Raleigh, it also got former longtime NHL executive and current Sportsnet analyst Brian Burke going. And not in a good way...

“I don’t think it’s professional,” Burke said on 590 The Fan. I don’t think it belongs in our league. If the people in Carolina like it, great.”
"I think it’s absurdly amateurish, pee-wee garbage stuff,” Burke said.
“They like it — terrific. Stay and watch it. Clap. Have another beer and stay and watch them swim or canoe or whatever they’re going to do next. I’m not watching.”

Burke has never held back when he believes strongly in something, and clearly the Hurricanes' post-game win celebration clearly gets under his skin. He most recently spent time in the Calgary Flames’ front office and also was the Maple Leafs’ team president and general manager from 2008-13. He has been involved in professional hockey for more than 40 years — including as an American Hockey League player, agent and NHL league executive. His teams probably never even discuss the possibility of having fun after a win...

The Hurricanes are 10-8-3 with a 6-4-2 record at home, which is a refreshing change following years of woes. This might have to do with several changes that took place in the front office this summer and with first-year coach Rod Brind’Amour taking over behind the bench. The new head coach loves his team having fun and does not agree with Burke on the post-win celebration.

“Why not enjoy a couple of minutes with the fans, giving them something so they can go home with a smile on their face?” Brind’Amour said.

However, Burke is not budging about this. How do you feel about the celebration? Do you think it is inappropriate?
