Defenseman admits off ice problems are impacting his game

Since he’s back with the Montreal Canadiens, Claude Julien changed many things to a team that seemed lost under Michel Therrien.

One thing he brought to the Montreal Canadiens is establishing a player rotation on the 4th line and on his defensive squad. One veteran player has been healthy scratched a few times already. Alexei Emelin, 30-years-old, played 67 games this year. He mainly played with star defenseman Shea Weber the first half of the season.

He scored 2 goals and registered 7 assists for a total of 9 points but he’s also been very bad at times under coach Julien.

The Veteran defenseman revealed to TVA Sports network that his performance on the ice earlier this season was impacted by some personal off ice problems.

He didn’t want to go into details, but admitted it was a difficult time for him and he didn’t have 100% of mind at hockey. This could still cost him a place on the roster if he doesn't fix his game though.

It’s not always easy to be an NHL player. We hope he will get back on track soon.
