Bruce Boudreau goes off on NHL officials after another huge missed call!

Rough night for the NHL officials.

It has been a rough night for the officials in the National Hockey League.

The latest round of criticism directed at the officiating on the ice comes courtesy of Minnesota Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau, and when you consider what time of year it is and where his team currently ranks in the standings, it's not hard to understand why he's furious. The missed call from the officiating crew may have cost Boudreau and his Minnesota Wild a critical point and when you consider that they are just 1 point back of the Arizona Coyotes for the final Wild Card spot, that is a massive freaking deal.

The issue of contention in this game comes from the overtime frame that saw some 3 on 3 action between the aforementioned Minnesota Wild and their opponents on the evening, the playoff bound New York Islanders. The Wild fought hard against what many would feel is the better team at this stage of the season and forced the overtime frame, however the Islanders were gifted a big advantage by the officials in that overtime.

In a blatant missed call by the officials the Islanders were able to get a fourth man out on the ice for a good chunk of time before their extra man came off the ice. It should have been a too many men call against the Islanders, but instead seconds later it resulted in an Islanders goal. Needless to say the often very blunt Boudreau was not afraid to let his feelings be known about that particular incident.

"We played good," began Boudreau. "We played like we cared. We played like we wanted to win. The crowd was great. ... we didn't get the extra point. Esp it was 40 feet too many men. Who are we kidding here? If you look, the guy was at the top of the circle when the other guy came on ice."

It is really hard to argue with how Boudreau saw things on the play. Here's a look at how egregious the too many men was.

Earlier in the night a different officiating crew cost a rookie superstar Elias Pettersson a spot in the record books with an arguably even bigger blunder. As I said, an ugly night for the NHL officials.
