The Twittersphere is going nuts!

On Friday, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that assistant coach Paul McFarland is leaving Sheldon Keefe’s staff to become the next head coach of the Kingston Frontenacs.

While he will return for the end of the 2019-20 if play resumes, he won’t be part of the staff afterwards. Which leaves a spot available for a worthy candidate.

Fans seem to believe former Minnesota Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau is the ideal candidate for the vacant spot. He is trending in Canada!

Boudreau was recently let go by the Wild after spending time notably as the head coach of the Anaheim Ducks and Washington Capitals. He is a Toronto native and loves the team, even admitted to it while coaching the Wild.

The Leafs would benefit from adding Boudreau who has tremendous skill on defensive play. With him behind the bench, the Wild and Ducks were strong defensive clubs.

Leafs fans would love to have Boudreau on board and that’s why he is trending on Twitter in Canada.
