Yesterday, the Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche faced off. The game ended with a 3-2 win for the Wild. Cale Makar made headlines as he continues to impress with his production and his overall play. He scored the Avs' two goals yesterday and has 7 on the season, he is leading all rookies in goals and is also leading the race for the Calder Trophy.

What is really incredible about Makar's production is the rate at which he is getting assists. He has 18 assists and a total of 25 points in 22 games in his first season in the NHL. He is averaging more than one point per game as a rookie defenseman. Not only does he have a great future ahead of him, it seems that he is already among the very best offensive defensemen in the NHL.

After the game between the Wild and the Avalanche, Bruce Boudreau couldn't help but comment un Makar's stellar performance against his team. He too seems convinced that Makar has a great destiny as one of the very best in the league.

"I’d like to be his agent," declared Boudreau with a laugh before adding "He's going to make a lot of money pretty soon."

Boudreau's comments probably shouldn't be interpreted as a sign that he would eventually quit his coaching career to become a player agent, but rather as a humorous way of underlining Cale Makar's dominance at such a young age. The Wild's head coach may have approached the situation differently if his team had lost.

One thing is certain, Boudreau has a good sense of humour and he may have potential as a fortune teller. If Makar keeps producing at this pace, he will indeed soon break the bank and prove Bruce Boudreau's comments right.
