Bruce Cassidy confirms 2 Bruins will miss the start of the season.

The Boston Bruins were ravaged by injuries during the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season and unfortunately for the Bruins organization it sounds like they will be starting the 2019 - 2020 NHL regular season with more of the same. 

On Sunday the Boston Bruins hit the ice for the third day of training camp and of course the big topic of discussion around the ice was the return of star defenseman Charlie McAvoy. The Bruins and McAvoy agreed to terms on a new 3 year contract on Sunday, a bridge deal, and one that will pay the young superstar an average annual value of $4.9 million per season over the length of that term. That however raised questions about the Bruins other restricted free agent defenseman, Brandon Carlo.

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy was asked about both the status of the Carlo negotiations and the Bruins current cap situation with the addition of McAvoy's new cap hit. Interestingly enough Cassidy not only said that he was confident the team had all the space they needed to sign Carlo to a new deal, but he also revealed that the team was expecting to start the season with two of their players on injured reserve. 

According to a report from Boston Bruins insider Joe Haggerty, the Bruins head coach informed him on Sunday that the organization believes both John Moore and Kevan Miller will not be ready to start the upcoming NHL season. Cassidy did not provide an updated timeline for recovery in the case of either man, but needless to say if the Bruins are confident regarding their absences this far out, it seems likely that they will miss significant time moving forward. 

Moore appeared in 61 games for the Bruins last season, recording 4 goals and 9 assists for a total of 13 points. The 28 year old defenseman also appeared in 10 playoff games for the Bruins during their push to the Stanley Cup Final, although he recorded no points in the postseason. 

Miller on the other hand was limited to just 39 games last season due to a series of crippling injuries. Over his 39 games played the 31 year old defenseman recorded no goals and 7 assists for a total of 7 points.
