The Boston Bruins suffered a big loss on Sunday night and right now it is still somewhat of a mystery as to how all of this went down.

Boston Bruins veteran defenseman Torey Krug appeared to vanish during the Bruins Sunday night matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers and as of right now no one seems to know exactly what happened to him. Krug was out on the ice with the Bruins but seemingly went missing prior to the 3 on 3 overtime period in tonight's game, and was not out there for the eventual shootout either. Pundits began to notice Krug was missing from the bench during the shootout and reporters were quick to ask Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy about the mysterious absence following the game.

Although we still do not know exactly what happened to Krug, Cassidy was able to confirm that Krug had suffered an injury during the game. Cassidy would only describe the injury as an "upper body" injury, which could mean a whole host of things, and also stated that the Bruins would provide more information at some point during the day tomorrow. Krug is of course a very valuable asset on the Bruins blue line and is also a pending unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2019 - 2020 National Hockey League regular season so this could not come at a worse time for the Bruins organization.

Update: After digging through some replays it appears as though Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux caught Krug up high with a hit, or possibly an elbow, with just a little over 2 minutes remaining in the games third period. This would certainly fit the description of an "upper body" injury and would also explain why Krug was unable to continue in the overtime frame. To be perfectly clear here I am merely speculating at this time as no official sources have indicated that this was indeed the cause of the injury to Krug, however it appears to be the only plausible scenario that I could find at this time.

We will of course be keeping you up to date as the Bruins provide more information so stay tuned.
