On Friday, the Bruins’ training camp began, and a few players were not on the ice. Both David Backes and David Pastarnak returned from the WCOH and did not participate in the drills overseen by the Bruins’ assistant coaches (they are expected lace up their skates soon). Head Coach Claude Julien couldn’t lead the drills as Team Canada faces Team Russia tonight (7 PM ET).

Don Sweeney updated the media explaining that Center Frank Vatrano will undergo surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Vatrano tore some ligaments in his left leg during pre-camp training. Dr. George Theodore will perform surgery on Vatrano on Monday, September 26.
