Bruins and Blues were on the verge of a blockbuster trade earlier this season!

Back in January, when the St. Louis Blues were at the bottom of the league’s standing, Bruins insider Joe Haggerty had reported that Boston was attempting to acquire Vladimir Tarasenko or Brayden Schenn in a blockbuster trade.

It was later revealed by another Bruins insider Jimmy Murphy that it was indeed Schenn who was most coveted by Boston, but that because of the Blues’ winning streak and push for a playoff spot, the trade had fallen through.

However earlier this week, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed on the air on Sportsnet that that major move was on the verge of taking place, so much that Schenn was informed by his agent about the trade and getting ready to move to Massachusetts.

At the last minute, Blues general manager Doug Armstrong pulled out of the deal and trusted his roster to make it to the postseason. Now three wins away from the franchise’s first championship in history, we can easily say Armstrong made the best decision there was.

It is hard to believe that the Blues would have been able to make it to the Stanley Cup without the services of Schenn, who has collected three goals and nine points in 21 playoff games.

That would have been a game-changer in this exciting postseason!
