Bruins goaltenders Malcolm Subban and Daniel Vladar dropped the mitts during practice.

During the course of the long AHL season, players have to find fun and unique ways to keep things fresh. For some, like Providence Bruins goaltenders Malcolm Subban and Daniel Vladar, this even includes throwing down and ending practice with a good dust up.

The Bruins are pushing for a playoff position as they wrap up their regular season this week so you’d expect tensions to be high and attitudes to be prickly, but even though Subban and Vladar chucked knuckles at center ice, they both sported smiles the entire time. The scrap appears to be all in good fun and, if Malcolm is anything like his older brother PK in Nashville, he knows the importance of keeping things light in the dressing room.

The teammates and combatants have been part of the Bruins’ goaltending platoon in Providence this season. Subban, a former first round pick chosen 24th overall, has stated the majority of games this season and sports a 2.41 GAA and .917 Sv%. Vladar, a third round pick in 2015, has started only 8 games for the P Bruins since being recalled from the ECHL but has posted a respectable 2.62 GAA and .921 Sv%. Zane McIntyre and Anton Khudobin are the other goaltenders who have seen starts this season in Providence
