The Boston Bruins are reportedly ready to jump on the opportunity that the clock is running out of time for Mark Stone and the Ottawa Senators. According to the Ottawa Sun, the Senators made him an offer last week, and his camp asked for time to think about it... however, Ottawa might have no other choice but to move him to prevent losing Stone for nothing this summer as he will hit the free agency market.

Enter here the Bruins.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post has reported that the Bruins are expected to go all in on Stone if the Senators are unable to sign the star forward ahead of the Feb. 25 trade deadline.

Stone, who is carrying a $7.35-million cap hit on his expiring deal, currently leads the Senators with 28 goals and 62 points in 59 games. He has become one of the most coveted rentals on the trade market and there is no wonder why the Bruins would look to acquire his services.

For months now it has been mentioned that Boston would like to bolster their offense ahead of a playoff run. Ever since the team announce that top scorer David Pastrnak was out with a thumb injury, chatter has intensified.

However, the Bruins would have to make a major offer to the Senators in order to pry Stone out of Ottawa. Nobody knows exactly what the asking price is for Stone, but you’d have to think the club would want a first-round pick, a high-end prospect plus another piece in return.

This could be quite a gamble for the Bruins, especially if Stone only stays in Bean Town as a rental...

Two weeks ago, Bruins insider Fluto Shinzawa of the Athletic revealed how much it would cost Boston to acquire Columbus Blue Jackets' Artemi Panarin:  their 2019 first-round pick and two prospects (a high-end kid and a secondary youngster). The names of Ryan Donato, Jake DeBrusk and Trent Frederic have been linked to it.

In addition to the Bruins, the Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights have also reportedly expressed interest in Stone.

There is competition out there and the Bruins might have to go all-in after all...
