A big shift from the Bruins.

The Boston Bruins have widely been considered one of the front runners to pull off a significant trade with the Colorado Avalanche, but it appears that has drastically changed.

According to Adrian Dater of Bleacher Report, the Bruins and the Avalanche have now stopped talking as a result of Boston's steadfast refusal to meet the Avalanche's asking price, a price that was rumored to be stay at home defenseman Brandon Carlo.

For hardcore Bruins fans this will likely come as a huge relief as the overwhelming majority of those appeared to want to hold on to Carlo, seeing him as a long-term part of their blue line along with prospect Charlie McAvoy.

While some Bruins fans may be disappointed by at the fact that they aren't likely to see Matt Duchene or Gabriel Landeskog in a Bruins uniform, they should be content to know Bruins management wasn't willing to make a deal merely to try and save their jobs.
