Former Bruins first round draft pick pick Jason DeBrusk had a very poor start to his first season with the organization, one that included a major injury that required surgery, but he's hoping this year will be a bounce back season.

DeBrusk is coming off an impressive playoff run, the kind that you would expect from a player of his pedigree, with 17 points in 17 Memorial Cup tournament games, and he believes that he is ready to make his mark at development camp.

“The only problem with playing in the Memorial Cup is I’ve only had about three weeks (of training) or so, while some guys have been training for over a month,” DeBrusk said as per the Boston Herald. “We’ll find out (today) but I think I’m ready.”

For Debrusk he has a tough task ahead of him if he intends to make the Bruins NHL roster, with names like Brad Marchand and Matt Beleskey certainly not going anywhere and Frank Vatrano who made his mark last season all ahead of him on the depth chart. Despite that he appears confident that he has an opportunity to make the team.

“I think everyone honestly has a shot,” DeBrusk said. “They’re always making moves and transactions. It’s going to be a tough team to crack. It’s the best league in the world.

“But you’ve got to believe you can do it. If you don’t, who will? You have to aim high. That’s what I’m thinking of every day in the gym.”
